Forty years ago this avant-guitar legend pioneered a lo-fi, DIY approach to making and distributing music, counting experimental giants like Carla Bley, Derek Bailey and John Zorn among his myriad collaborators. Chadbourne has also worked with indie rock heroes such as Camper Van Beethoven and They Might Be Giants, while his playing finds deep kinship with American roots and swing music.
