Crooklyn

Writer-director Spike Lee worked with artist and cameraman Arthur Jafa on his 1994 film Crooklyn, a movie about a young African-American girl who lives with her mother, father and four brothers in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in the '70s. In advance of Jafa's lecture on Saturday at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the museum will screen Crooklyn today at 6:45 p.m. It will also screen the 1999 drama Daughters of the Dust, another movie Jafa worked on, at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Tickets to the screenings are $5. Admission to the lecture, which takes place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, is free. (Niesel)
