Check Mate

Chess is the kind of game that attracts nerdy types. That's something director Andrew Bujalski exploits in Computer Chess, a black and white satire of sorts that actually resembles raw footage from the '60s. Problem is, the joke is so subtle, you might not get it. The fact that guys in suits appear so serious as they debate whether or not the computer can play chess better than humans can makes it seem as if the film is a documentary. The ridiculous dialogue is what gives it away. The film shows at 7 tonight and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
