Boy Toy/Me Time and the Raging Crush/Birthday Noose

This Brooklyn-based group came together just over two years ago; its self-titled debut EP suggests a cross between the Pixies and Throwing Muses. "We all listen to different types of music," says guitarist Glenn Van Dyke. "We're all over the board. We don't really like the kind of pop music you hear on the radio but we do appreciate good songs and pop bands are popular for a reason." Songs such as "Runner" are steeped in Black Rebel Motorcycle-like droning guitars. Tonight's show marks the first time the band has ever played in Cleveland. (Niesel)
