With last year’s release, Land of LoFi, an album that includes gems like “Sun to Sun” and “Ohio Blues,” singer Michael Hurley offered his take on a classic country sound (think ’30s and ’40s). The songs will easily have you humming along without feeling like you’re getting too campy. “How Many Biscuits” is a humorous, laid-back track dedicated to the breakfast favorite, while “Dark Valley Walls” features melodic guitar strumming backed up by velvety violin and Hurley’s simple yet soulful lyrics. This guy’s sound is truly one-of-a-kind, and the sincerity he puts into his performances makes this a perfect night to kick back with a couple beers. He opens tonight for local icon Bill Fox.
