Baldwin Wallace University Faculty Recital

Featuring "Iache Salpinx" (The Trumpet Cries Out) by Robert Pound, Jack Sutte, trumpet, Craig Ketter, piano. The piece adapts Greek’s accentual pitch patterns and quantitative phonemic structure, combined with a musical “alphabet” for the language’s 20 phonemic elements, and contextualizes these in each of the three scalar types from Ancient Greek music: diatonic, chromatic, & enharmonic. These technical elements combined with rich text painting yield a vivid musical tapestry depicting some of the epic’s key scenes. In-person & Live stream.
