Angela Perly & the Howlin' Moons/Shivering Timbers/Womack Family Band
When: Fri., March 22, 8 p.m. 2013
Billed as an "Americana female super show of sorts," this concert features regional acts that basically all come at their music from a similar point of view. Columbus's Angela Perley & the Howlin' Moons are the most exuberant of the three acts. The song "18 Feet Under" is a gritty roots rock number that has more in common with the Blasters than, say, Neko Case. and the same goes for the frisky "I'll Meet You at the Backyard." Akron's terrific Shivering Timbers goes for something a bit moodier and the Womack Family Band comes out of a folk tradition. This is a great triple bill. (Jeff Niesel)
