An Evening with Kate Winkler Dawson, Author of American Sherlock: Murder, Forensics, and the Birth of American CSI

Journalist and documentary film producer Kate Winkler Dawson's latest book, American Sherlock: Murder, Forensics, and the Birth of American CSI examines the life and work of criminologist Edward Oscar Heinrich, known as "America’s Sherlock Holmes." Heinrich pioneered many early forensic techniques that police still use today, including blood spatter analysis, ballistics, lie-detector tests and the use of fingerprints as courtroom evidence. Kirkus Reviews calls it "an entertaining, absorbing combination of biography and true crime."
