An Evening with Chris Smither

Veteran singer-songwriter Chris Smither just released his first studio recording of new songs in six years. An introspective effort, the album, Call Me Lucky, offers "a commentary on the human condition." During the making of the record, Smither mixed things up so that the engineer played piano and the drummer played guitar. As a result, the disc has a free wheelin' feel to it, something that's apparent from the very beginning as the album's ragtag first track, "Call Me Crazy," finds Smither softly singing over a blues guitar riff. (Niesel)
