An Evening of Bluegrass with Noam Pikelny/Ronnie McCoury/Bryan Sutton/Luke Bulla/Barry Bales
When: Sat., April 13, 8:30 p.m. 2013
The Punch Brothers’ esteemed banjoist, Noam Pikelny, fronts tonight’s celebration of all things bluegrass. The ensemble is a who’s who of bluegrass. Ronnie McCoury hails from the Del McCoury Band. Flatpicked acoustic guitarist Bryan Sutton has dabbled with many musicians over the years, garnering a Grammy along the way. Luke Bulla, a noted fiddler, has some seriously fast hands. And bassist Barry Bales has spent time working with Alison Krauss and Union Station. Altogether, the lineup is dynamite. The musicians will draw on the various backgrounds from which they come, producing a wholly new sound. On their own, yes, these cats are terrific and there’s plenty of past material to check out. But tonight’s show is a unique opportunity that should not be missed. (Eric Sandy)
