An "Embroidered Binding" Sampler

In this workshop, participants will explore the intersection of sewn bindings and the possibilities of expanding embroidery techniques onto the spine of a book. The workshop will begin by making simple adaptations of more traditional bindings, using weaving and braiding, and modifying a link stitch to create an embroidered sampler-style binding. Participants will expand their repertoire to create on the embroidered spine sampler by adding patterns derived from Elizabethan Blackwork embroidery and other more traditional styles.
