Zimmermann Plays Bartók

Director Stanley Kubrick famously used the Concerto for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta in his horror film, The Shining, suggesting the song's incredible power. Tonight at 7:30 and tomorrow and Saturday night at 8 at Severance Hall, Frank Peter Zimmermann joins the Cleveland Orchestra as it performs Bartok’s second violin concerto. The performance concludes with the composer’s Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta. An hour prior to the concert, guest speaker Michael Strasser, professor of musicology, Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music, presents the pre-concert talk "Of Musical Tales and Strings" in Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Hall.
