Since 2009, locals have celebrated the anniversary of manned spaceflight with Yuri’s Night, a good excuse as any for a party. At this weekend's big bash in honor U.S.S.R. cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be treated to a number of special events. There will be special Liftoff! Science Spectacular demonstrations and a portable Star Lab planetarium will be set up in the Reinberger Auditorium for lessons in star gazing. Kids seven and younger can rock out at a Cosmic Dance Party in the Polymer Funhouse Birthday Party Room where they can make a DIY space helmet out of cardboard and other ordinary objects. In addition, today will feature final showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the OMNIMAX Theater (extra admission applies to OMNIMAX films). The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from noon to 5 p.m. tomorrow. Regular admission rates apply. (Niesel)
