William Shatner at PHS

William Shatner’s one-man show comes to the State Theatre on Playhouse Square this evening. Shatner’s World: We Just Live In It is a two-hour voyage through Captain James T. Kirk’s real-life life: from his start as a Shakespearean stage actor to Star Trek, T.J. Hooker, Boston Legal, Priceline shilling, the recording “career,” and far, far beyond. Personally, we’ve always had a soft spot for the now-82-year-old Shatner. Eccentric but entertaining, he’s like that quirky uncle you see on holidays: You’re never entirely sure if you’re laughing with him or at him, but whichever it is, he seems to thrive on the attention. Turns out, that’s pretty much the reaction the show got on Broadway, where it opened in the Music Box Theater in early March. If Facebook is to be believed, adoring fans at tour stops in Denver, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Philly concur. Tickets for tonight’s 8 p.m. show range from $29 to $299 — which we assume includes a private tour of the Enterprise or at least a discount on a hotel room. Get yours by phone, online, or at the Playhouse Square box office.
