Among artists, Sophie Pace may not be a household name. But the Cleveland creative has been making art for decades: everything from the “Shish-Car-Bob” — a nine-foot-tall sculpture crafted from pieces of a Volkswagen chassis painted to look like food — to macaroni handbags. Today, April 15, Pace is taking over the back room at Old Brooklyn’s Café Miami for Rockin’ Chakras, a one-of-a-kind exhibition featuring what she calls “multipurpose wearable art.” You’ll find flowing chiffon tops, hand-painted scarves, and bracelets made from recycled belts (“I’ve been working with recycled materials forever — even before it was cool”). Also on hand: embellished gloves, hats, and assorted accessories, all set at prices ranging from $7 to $100. Pace, who also describes herself as a metaphysical healer, says she often works in the rainbow colors of the chakras. Ergo: the exhibit’s name. Besides the chakra rocking, you’ll find live musical entertainment; expect Café Miami owner, chef, and fellow artist Larry Fields to be on hand as well, dishing out light refreshments. It all happens from 2 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
