Way back in the '80s, VOIVOD changed the face of thrash metal with its new prog-metal sound. Considered one of the "big four" Canadian thrash metal bands alongside Sacrifice, Razor and Annihilator, they were one of the first thrash metal bands from Canada to gain popularity outside of the country. Their music contains lyrical themes such as Reagan-era Cold War politics, post-apocalyptic literature and science fiction. The group plays the Grog Shop tonight at 8 as it brings its tour in support of its latest album, Synchro Anarchy to town. Local hardcore heroes Ringworm open. Check the venue's website for more info.
