Vazante

Walter Salles collaborator Daniela Thomas makes her directorial debut with Vazante, a film set in colonial Brazil. It centers on a young woman who creates a scandal when she begins associating with the slaves on her husband's plantation. The movie makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 8:45 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, where it shows again at 7 on Friday night. Tickets are $10, or $7 for Cinematheque members and students. (Niesel)
