Two New Exhibitions

Beginning this weekend, BAYarts presents two new exhibitions in its galleries. Dean Shaffer: Studies from Direct Observation and Mary Ann Sedivy: Intuitive Variations both open with simultaneous receptions from 7 to 9 tonight. BAYarts pairs Shaffer’s representational paintings with Sedivy’s abstract compositions, emphasizing their mutual interest in the underlying structure of the natural order. Shaffer’s exhibition is located in the Sullivan Family gallery, and Sedivy’s show can be found in the Diane Boldman Education Gallery. Both shows remain on view through Sept. 16. Free. (Usmani)
