The Sealed Soil

In this Iranian movie that has never been seen in Iran, a young woman is caught between the traditional values of her small village and her own yearnings for independence and individuality. Filmed in 1977, the film was smuggled out of Iran by the director in a false-bottomed suitcase and taken to the U.S., where it was completed. It screens at 2 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque.
