The Ox-Bow Incident at Lakewood Public Library

Film buff Terry Meehan’s Western Cinema series continues Saturday May 5 at the Lakewood Public Library with the 6 p.m. screening of The Ox-Bow Incident, William Wellman’s 1943 masterpiece starring Henry Fonda, Harry Morgan, and Anthony Quinn. If you don’t like Westerns, this may be the film for you, says Meehan. “It takes place in Nevada in 1885, but the characters and the situation they find themselves in could occur any time or place. The issues are both universal and troubling, and when the movie was released, it was said to have parallels to what was happening in Europe.” The evening kicks off with a short introductory video and some tips from Meehan on what to watch for. After the screening, stick around for informal discussion. It’s free.
