The Features/Painted Palms

After appearing on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 soundtrack, the Features put out a self-titled album that moved their style from sugar-coated indie rock to sincere songwriting. Similar to Band of Horses or Kings of Leon, the Nashville-based band has an indie Southern sound that it shakes up with synthesized ornamentation. “With Every Beat” is a bittersweet tune featuring a bright synth line accompanying Matt Pelham’s singing. The power-pop lead single “This Disorder” has a bubbly bass groove paired with twangy guitar, as Pelham sings about how LCD is ruining his life. The Features are in the midst of recording a new album; expect some more amped up Southern pop-rock goodness. (Gonzalez)
