The College Try

As far as documentaries go, Frederick Wiseman's At Berkeley ranks as one of the most ambitious. Over a 12-week period, Wiseman shot some 250 hours of footage at Northern California's UC-Berkeley, interviewing students and administrators. His focus: the school's attempts to deal with budget cuts and financial aid issues. He then whittled those hours of footage down to 244 minutes. The film makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 6:45 and tomorrow night at 7:30 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets are $10. (Jeff Niesel)
