The Big Baby D.R.A.M. Tour with River Tiber/Ari Lennox

With "Cha Cha" and "Broccoli," Virginian rapper/singer D.R.A.M. has two of the biggest earworms of the last two years. The infectiously groovy "Cha Cha" caught Beyoncé’s attention and subsequent stamp of approval, and Drake flipped (or stole, depending on your perspective) its beat for his smash hit, "Hotline Bling." Deftly eluding one-hit-wonder territory, D.R.A.M. dropped last summer’s "Broccoli" – featuring mumblerap wunderkind Lil’ Yachty – as the lead single off his debut album, Big Baby D.R.A.M. Millions of streams later, the dreadlocked vocalist is sitting pretty with a Grammy nomination and spots on end-of-year lists from Billboard, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Referred to as this generation's Biz Markie, D.R.A.M cites church choirs and Parliament Funkadelic before hip-hop artists as influences. The tour’s namesake album, featuring collaborations with Erykah Badu and Young Thug, blends carefree rap with funky, layered soul, and D.R.A.M. shines as a goofy, millennial D’Angelo who has embraced trap and wants your WiFi password. Multi-instrumentalist and producer River Tiber and emerging R&B singer-songwriter Ari Lennox open the show. (Lawrence Neil)
