Strongsville Historical Society Presents: 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes

David Maloney of the Strongsville Historical Society will present on the 1965 Palm Sunday tornado outbreak, a severe weather event with 55 confirmed tornados that affected the Midwest and Southeast United States causing over 260 deaths, over 3,600 injuries and over $1.2 billion in damages. David will concentrate on the storms’ impact on Strongsville which was in the path of one of the tornados and suffered major damages primarily in the Westwood Estates neighborhood. WKYC recently ran a story on the 60th anniversary of the tornados in April of 2025.
