Set in Louisiana in the 1980s, Steel Magnolias centers on the women who hang out at Truvy’s beauty shop, where “there is no such thing as natural beauty.” Each week, six “southern spitfires” gather to gossip. A “life-changing event” threatens to send their world into a tailspin. Tonight at 8 at the Allen Theatre, the Cleveland Play House presents its production of the play. Tickets start at $10, and performances continue through Aug. 21. (Niesel)
