Smashing Pumpkins singer-guitarist Billy Corgan is the only original member left in the post-punk/goth/metal band that formed in Chicago in 1988 and experienced massive success in the '90s. A few years back, Corgan and Co. began releasing a series of singles dubbed Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol. 1: Songs for a Sailor. For tonight's show, Corgan will play “acoustic-electro” renditions of the band's material. Singer-songwriter Liz Phair, another indie act that found mainstream success in the '90s, opens. Additionally, the show marks the opening of Akron's new Goodyear Theatre. (Niesel)
