Scary Stuff

Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho wouldn’t be as scary without composer Bernard Herrmann’s eerie score. An example: The combination of violins, violas and cellos that practically scream during the shower scene (the piece is titled “The Murder”) sounds absolutely chilling and really heightens the brutality of that moment in the movie. Tonight at 7:30 at Severance Hall, the Cleveland Orchestra performs the film’s score live while the movie screens. The concert is part of the orchestra’s Celebrity Series. Tickets start at $35.
