AIA Cleveland, the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects, brings Sand Fest, its signature summer event, back to Edgewater Beach. The annual gathering aims to promote public awareness of the role architects play and raise funds for the ACE (Architecture Construction Engineering) Mentor Program. The ACE Mentor Program offers education and
scholarships to high school and college students pursuing careers in these industries. The event will feature an exhilarating volleyball tournament and an elaborate sand castle construction competition, presenting a unique opportunity for Cleveland architects and designers to engage with the public. Food trucks such as Swenson’s, Barrio, and Cleveland Cookie Dough Co. will be on hand. This year’s sand castle theme is Explore the Unexplored. All proceeds raised from Sand Fest go to the ACE Mentor Program scholarship fund, a mentorship initiative that teams Cleveland Metropolitan School District students with industry professionals to encourage consideration of careers in design and construction. The event begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
