First with the Soft Boys and then with his band the Egyptians,
singer-guitarist Robyn Hitchcock has written quirky pop songs that have left a lasting impression, particularly with other musicians. He's like a British Bob Dylan, albeit with a psychedelic twist. When he met Gillian Welch and David Rawlings at a London show, a few years back he discovered a woman named Robyn Hitchcock had been named Miss Ohio and that Welch and Rawlings had a song about her called "Miss Ohio." That led to a collaboration on Hitchcock's 2004 album Spooked. Hitchcock is currently touring behind The Man Upstairs, an album of five original tunes and five cover songs. (Niesel)
