Rib, White and Blue Rib Fest

Rib, White & Blue, Akron’s national rib festival, started earlier this week, but the free entertainment continues tonight with Elevation, the International U2 tribute band. Experience all the egotistical vocals of Bono without having to actually hear him go on and on and on about his humanitarian work in Africa. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the concert starts at 6 with a set from the Jim Gill Band. The group will probably just stick to playing the hits but perhaps it’ll perform songs from that Broadway blunder known as Spider Man. If the soaring guitar of Pink Floyd is more your style, wait for the Machine, a tribute act, that plays tomorrow. The group will perform psychedelic classics from the classic rock band. Joe Vitale Jr. opens at 6 p.m. Oh, and don’t forget the award winning rib vendors from all over the country who’ll be on hand. (William Hoffman)
