Rhapsody in Blue

In the era prior to World War II, several composers headed to Hollywood to escape Europe’s tumultuous climate. “Rhapsody in Blue,” tonight's concert at Severance Hall featuring the Cleveland Orchestra, explores the work of three of these composers who took their talents overseas. Tonight at 7:30, the orchestra will perform pieces by Arnold Schoenberg, Béla Bartók and Bernard Herrmann. You'll also hear Gershwin’s ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue in its original jazz band version. Tickets start at $29, and performances also take place at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow (minus the Schoenberg) and at 8 p.m. on Saturday. (Niesel)
