People's Art Show

It’s time once again for Cleveland’s most democratic art tradition, Cleveland State University’s People’s Art Show. With hundreds of entries by more than 100 participants, the work is hung “Salon Style,” with artwork stacked from floor to ceiling on each wall. Artists participating in the exhibition range from kids and students to amateurs and professionals. Unjuried and uncensored, past exhibitions have been so controversial that the formerly annual event is now held once every two years – so provocative that it made the front page of the New York Times and led to Gallery Director Robert Thurmer being interviewed on the Howard Stern Show. The 22nd People’s Art Show opens with a free, public reception from 5 to 8 tonight and remains on view through Dec. 8. (Usmani)
