With his new album, Other Arrangements, singer-songwriter Parker Millsap sought to expand his sound and rock a little harder. "I wanted to write songs that were fun to play live," he says. "Coming from a folk singer-songwriter beginning, I realized I had a bunch of slow, ballad-y numbers. I wanted to write some songs that were fun and that people could move to. I wrote a lot of them with electronic guitar in mind. There are a few ballads, but it’s primarily a rock ’n’ roll record." Album opener "Fine Line" has a real swagger to it and recalls the Stones. Expect to hear it alongside a good batch of new tunes as Millsap brings his tour in support of the album to town. (Niesel)
