Open House

With the opening of Near West Theatre’s new home, Cleveland has added a “sustainable/green, accessible and versatile” arts and culture venue to the Gordon Square Arts District. For the past 36 years, Near West Theatre, which started in 1978 with $800, rented space in the historic St. Patrick’s Club Building in Ohio City. The new theater cost some $7.3 million; it was funded through the successful Gordon Square Arts District capital campaign. Today from 1 to 5 p.m., you can check out the new digs during a free open house. A special opening ritual takes place at 3 p.m. (Niesel)
