More than 1,000 people are expected to participate in the National Kidney Foundation Northeast Ohio Kidney Walk that takes place today at 9 a.m. at the Great Lakes Science Center. Kidney disease is serious stuff, and in Ohio alone, 1.2 million people have kidney disease and more than 4,000 people are awaiting lifesaving transplants. Today's walk aims to raise awareness about kidney disease, organ donation and the importance of early screening for those at risk. Participants have the option of doing a 1-mile or 3-mile walk.
