Man Man’s 2011 outing, Life Fantastic, provides an interesting mix of downplayed chaos and, at other times, in-your-face psychotic reactions. That album features what’s become an ever-growing litany of instruments. The marimba, in particular, is warm and enticing. Dig “Dark Arts” to get the wacky flavor of the band, which isn’t really easy to slide into any one category or genre. The music, by and large, speaks for itself — as does the band’s energetic live show. The group opens for Murder By Death, who, for their part, will continue the party well into the night. With last year’s Bitter Dark, Bitter Moon under their belts (and clocking in as Kickstarter’s third-most-funded music project ever), there’s plenty to be excited about for tonight’s gig. (Eric Sandy)
