Mom, Meet Stan Hywet

No, of course Stan Hywet isn’t the guy who tried to sell Mom that bogus life insurance policy; it’s the name of F.A. Seiberling’s ginormous estate in Akron. The 65-room manor house and the 70-acre grounds rarely look lovelier than in the spring, when the gardens are abloom and sunshine illuminates the walkways, fountains, and forested paths. And today, in honor of Mother’s Day, Mom can see it all for free. While she’s there, she can take a self-guided tour of the house; drool over a special exhibit of Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco jewelry and accessories; and stroll through the Corbin Conservatory, where she’ll find a collection of fragrant citrus trees. And if you still need an admittedly inadequate gift for She Who Gave You Life, check out the new Garden Shop, where you’ll find fountains, garden art, and accessories.
