Light Up Lakewood

Organizers of Light Up Lakewood, the annual holiday happening that takes place today from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Lakewood, have announced that this year's event just became a lot more enticing. It will now include a beer garden that will be located at the intersection of Mars and Detroit avenues. Additionally, Light Up Lakewood 2018 will feature the introduction of the Holiday Market at Lakewood Masonic Temple. Replacing Vendor Village, the Holiday Market will showcase goods from a wide array of local artists and entrepreneurs. Also new this year is the addition of the Light Up Lakewood Holiday Train, a restored classic trackless train that will run along Detroit Avenue between Belle and St. Charles; tickets to ride it will cost just a buck. As usual, the free event will also feature a holiday parade, a lighting ceremony, winter fireworks, live music, ice carvings, hot chocolate, food trucks, children's games and more. Details are on the website. (Niesel)
