Life on the Streets

For Stray Dogs, his first feature film in five years, Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang (The Hole, Goodbye, Dragon Inn) reunites with actor Lee Kang-sheng, who plays a homeless man living in modern-day Taipei. The guy makes some money by standing on a busy street corner with a sign all day long, but it’s not enough to take care of himself and his two children. So they squat at night and use public restrooms. It’s a sobering account of what life must be like on the streets of the metropolis. The film makes its Cleveland debut tonight at 8:50 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. It screens again at 6:30 on Sunday night. Tickets are $9. (Niesel)
