Les Délices, Folly of Youth

Folly of Youth is a program about flying high and landing hard! Les Délices will delve into the myths of Icarus and Phaeton – young men who dared to fly too close to the sun with terrible consequences. This program pairs George Frederic Handel's own youthful cantata "Tra le fiamme" (1707) with French Baroque cantatas and chamber music by Lully, Duval, and Le Maire. Performers include: Shannon Mercer (soprano), Debra Nagy & Kathryn Montoya (baroque oboes and recorders), Julie Andrijeski & Scott Metcalfe (baroque violin), Joshua Lee (viola da gamba), Michael Sponseller (harpsichord), and Simon Martyn-Ellis (theorbo and baroque guitar).
