Julian Lage and Nels Cline

Julian Lage and Nels Cline come from two different corners of the six-string universe, though both are rooted firmly in jazz theory. It’s a sure bet that Cline’s notably dangerous presence (cue his solo in “Impossible Germany”) will draw Lage into some chaotic moments of guitar glee, while the latter will take Cline deeper into his own forest of sound (think 2009’s Sounding Point, all lilting and contemplative). This sort of duo doesn’t stroll onto the stage every night in Cleveland; you’d do well to score tickets and settle in early with a fine drink and a head full of melody. (Sandy)
