Jorma Kaukonen

Known mostly for his work with Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen — an Ohio boy! — boasts a long and dynamic solo career. He’s an excellent storyteller and guitarist, renowned among fans and fellow musicians for his thrilling fingerpicking and his penchant for drawing upon international musical traditions (southern Asia, India). We cued up the 2/11/16 show from Mill Valley, California, in preparation for tonight’s Cleveland gig. It’s a great, gentle show, with Kaukonen directing the evening with playful banter in between rich, emotional tunes. We enjoyed his take on “I Know You Rider” quite a bit. (Sandy)
