While enrolled at Ohio University, rapper Jean P became a father and had to put his career on hold for a while. Inspired by the adversities of the situation and support from the Athens community, he was able to pick up his hip-hop career and land a record deal in Columbus with producer J Rawls, who was impressed with his self-released album Opposites Attract, an album that combines old school beats and jazzy horn hooks with meaningful and skillfully versed lyrics. Now, the young rapper is on the climb, making appearances on MTV Rapfix and finding his songs on college radio top 40 charts. There will be more to come from Jean P. (William Hoffman)
