Jamey Haddad

Local percussionist Jamey Haddad hasn’t put out a studio album in 8 years but that hasn’t stopped him from regularly playing gigs around town. Tonight and tomorrow night he’s at Nighttown with bassist Omer Avital and pianist Aaron Goldberg, both of whom share his love for Middle Eastern music. The guys all played together last year in Toronto and wanted to keep collaborating. “That energy that we shared [at that show] was something we wanted to continue exploring,” Haddad says in an email exchange “We will play a mix of music from all of our respective backgrounds, but most importantly, we will be sharing in our celebration of what we have in common and build on that trust.” Haddad adds that guests such as trumpet player Dominick Farinacci and reed player Bobby Selvaggio might sit in and jam with him, as well. Should be more free-wheeling than your typical jazz concert. (Jeff Niesel)
