Israeli Idols

Director Eytan Fox's most recent film, Cupcakes, is a musical comedy about a group of Tel Aviv friends who are upset with the Israel entry for the UniverSong competition. The group decides to record their own entry on their mobile phone, but soon discovers that their recording is being selected as Israel's entry for next year. The film features a feel-good soundtrack that is sure to leave you tapping your feet along. It follows the group's journey from unknown everyday people to newfound celebrity status. You can catch Cupcakes tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at 8:40 p.m. and it screens again at 4:15 on Sunday. Tickets are $9. (Harp)
