In Her Image: Photographs by Rania Matar

Rania Matar began by photographing her children, but the tragedy of 9/11 led her to focus on using the medium to tell others' stories. A 2002 visit to a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon provided additional motivation as Matar felt a strong connection to the women. Opening today at the Transformer Station, In Her Image: Photographs by Rania Matar features 43 large-scale color images. A reception is at 6 p.m. The exhibition will be on view until Jan. 13. (Niesel)
