I Am

Billed as “an examination of identity through music and art,” I Am, an event put on by the local group fresh perspectives, features the music of Sarah Hennies and the Ohio premiere of Contralto, a work for video, strings and percussion. The video features a cast of transgender women vocalizing over a live musical score. Other music includes a work for vibraphone and a work for non-musical instruments. There will be video installations by Brooklyn-based Natalie Braginsky and a poetry bar hosted by Cleveland-based poets. There will be food and drinks available. Tickets are sold day of and on a sliding scale of $5 to $15. It all starts at 6:30 tonight at the fresh perspectives offices. (Niesel)
