Hamilton College Choir to Perform in Cleveland

Clinton, N.Y. -- The Hamilton College Choir will visit Cleveland during its March Midwest tour. The 64-member choir will perform on Friday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Ave. The performance is free and open to the public. The program for Hamilton’s March 2012 tour is a varied one that includes Renaissance motets and madrigals by Morley, Gesualdo and Handl; 19th-century motets by Meyerbeer, Bruckner and Horatio Parker; Maurice Ravel’s Three Chansons; madrigals by the living American composer Morton Lauridsen; two anthems by the early American composer William Billings; a selection of American folk songs; and a group of popular songs. The Hamilton College Choir boasts an uninterrupted tradition of fine choral singing that dates back for over a century. It is directed by G. Roberts Kolb, professor of music and director of choral music at Hamilton since 1981. This year the choir will perform concerts throughout the Midwest, including Columbus and Chicago.
