MOCA Cleveland is the embassy for the international vanguard of experimental art. They have showcased the newest, strangest, and most wonderful art from dozens of countries and around the United States. Now they showcase work that taps into Cleveland’s 20th century history as an early adopter of radical art forms under the auspices of the Kokoon Arts Club, otherwise remembered for throwing the wildest parties the city had ever seen. The new exhibit, Realization is Better than Anticipation, pairs artifacts from the Kokoon era with the work of a dozen living artists with ties to the region. It opens tonight with a free reception featuring a curator’s talk, artist appearances, refreshments, and a live band outdoor on the museum’s street-level patio. Kids can create in the family art studio, and grown-ups can enjoy cocktails. From 7 to 10 p.m. (Joseph Clark)
