Elgar's Elegy

Written just after World War I, Edward Elgar’s “Cello Concerto” is a contemplative arrangement that speaks to the sobering reality of war’s aftermath. Tonight at 7:30 at Severance Hall, cellist Alisa Weilerstein joins the Cleveland Orchestra to perform the piece. She’ll also accompany the orchestra on other selections from the 20th century, including John Adams’ Harmonielehre. Addtional performances take place at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $29. (Jeff Niesel)
